Humanoid Naming and Essay Contes

Put down the gaming controller and pick up a pen—the CCEDC is handing you the keys to help shape the future, and they want to see if you’ve got the 'Write Stuff'.

Important Dates

Submission Dates: March 15th - May 31st

Winner Announced during Incubator Ribbon-Cutting: July

Alternative Entry: Schools unable to use the form may email submissions to Info@SelectClevelandCounty.com


Limit: One entry per student.


Originality: Work must be the student’s own and free of copyright infringement, profanity, political references, or unauthorized personal data.

Pre K-5: Name & Why

Grades Pre-K-5th Grade: The Naming Quest

Give our humanoid robot a name! Write a short paragraph (about 25 to 50 words) explaining why your name fits her personality or her job 


Prizes:

1st Place: 

 Classroom robot visit, certificate, and classroom STEM prize (approx. $300 value).


Up to 2 Runner-Ups: 

Certificate + small prize pack.

Grades 6-8: Name & Innovation Essay

Junior High 6th-8th Grade: Technology and Innovation Essay

Submit a 500–800-word essay explaining "Why technology and innovation matter to my community" and submit a name for our robot.

 

 

Prizes:

1st Place: $500 educational grant to the winner’s school for STEM resources, certificate, and robot event invitation.


Up to 2 Runner-Ups: $150 classroom grants + certificates.

High School: Name & Career Vision

 High School 9th-12th Grade: The Workforce Vision

Submit a 800–1000-word essay about “How local innovation creates career opportunities where I live” and one idea for how the robot could be used in school or the community and submit a name for our robot.

 


Prizes: 

1st Place: $1,000 scholarship (or equivalent educational opportunity), certificate, and robot event invitation.


Up to 2 Runner-Ups: $250 scholarships + certificates.
